Client — British Geological Survey
Field — Logo design
Founded in 1835, The British Geological Survey (BGS) is a Royal Charter responsible for advising the UK government on all aspects of geoscience – above and below the Earth’s surface.

Steeped in heritage
The logo evolution required a deep understanding and careful execution; I created a dynamic new BGS logo to mark a new era while paying homage to their past. The responsive logo design ensures the logo and emblem are always legible, regardless of their scale.

Reflecting the Earth’s surface
The updated logo has been reworked to add impact and clarity, while also representing the surface and subsurface of the Earth. The outer edge of the logo is used throughout the identity as a core brand device, creating focus on elements such as photography.
